Dear Sir,

At the meeting of the Trustees today, the followiong order was adopted:

"Resolved That the Treasurer, Secretary, Superintendent and Gatekeeper, be and they are hereby directed in no case to act as paid agents or brokers for the sale or exchange of lots, and are hereby forbidden to receive any commission, fee or reward for negotiating or effecting such sales or exchanges".

The subject of salaries was reported and referred to the next meeting. It is proposed to put everything on a salary basis, and abolish compensation by commissions.

Similar notice was sent the Supt & Gatekeeper

Dear Sir,

At the meeting of Trustees held this day, it was

Voted that the Committee on Grounds be authorized to cause the Iron Fence enclosing the Cemetery to be painted, at an expense not exceeding nine hundred dollars. -- ($900)

At the last meeting, it was voted "that the Secy be authorized to purchase ^for the use of this board 120 car tickets of the Union Railway Co. from Boston to Mt Auburn, & distribute them among the Trustees."

Which has been done, & the [a/c?] rendered you & paid. --

Committee on Iron Fence _

Voted that the same Committee that was chosen on the , to consider the Expediency of enclosing the Stone Farm with an Iron fence on the road, to make inquiries obtain estimates and report at a future meeting - viz.

Railway tickets to be purchased for Trustees _

Voted that the Secretary be authorized to purchase for the use of this Board one hundred and twenty car tickets of the Union Railway Company from Boston to Mount Auburn, and distribute them to the Trustees.

Perpetual Repair _ Lot 2517.

The Secretary reported that the Committee on Lots had contracted for the perpetual repair of Lot No 2517 belonging to the estate of the late Josiah Vose for the sum of Eleven hundred dollars ($1100) subject to the concurrence of this Board.

Voted that said contract be concurred in.

Voted that when this meeting adjourn, it be to the next regular meeting on the 1st Monday in March. _

Trustees. .

Board to prepare their ballots for President, and Mr N. J. Bradlee having been designated as a Committee to collect and count the votes, announced the result as follows, viz: –

Election of Mr I. M. Spelman President Whole number of ballots cast 6

All of which were for Mr Israel M. Spelman, and he was accordingly declared ^elected to the office aforesaid.

Appointment of Mr J. T. Bradlee on the Com. on Grounds & on the Com. on rel. with Mass. Hort. Soc.

A vacancy in the Committee on Grounds having been caused by the resignation of Mr J. T. Bradlee, the ex officio chairman of the Committee, the said vacancy was filled by the appointment of Mr Bradlee as a member of that Committee, by the President.

On motion of Mr Snow, it was

Voted, – that Mr J. T. Bradlee be added to the Committee consisting of the President and Messrs. Choate and Snow appointed , on the relations between this corporation and the Massachusetts Horticultural Society.

Watering street in front of Cem'y. Contract for for 1874.

A report was received from Mr J. T. Bradlee that arrangements had been made with the City of Cambridge for watering the street in front of the Cemetery during the present season from Coolidge Av. to the stables of the Union Railway Company for the sum of $167.50 ^on the part of this Corporation and asking that the Board would appropriate that sum for the purpose named.

Water supply for Cemetery. Report ''inexpedient'' acccepted.

Voted, – that the report be accepted and the appropriation made as desired.
