Henry L. Hallet Esq

Dear Sir

Mr. Mackintosh sends me your bill & also a note in regard to it.

After looking at it carefully, I can find no error. You gave me the order in May & it was not executed correctly at first, but I had it altered & supposed that you found it satisfactory. In the bill you paid on May 15th amounting to $9625 I do not find this work included, that amount being for work done for you under Col. Folsom's supervision, which was completed in 1872.

Hoping this explanation will prove satisfactory.

Respectfully J.W. Lovering Supt

Dear Sir

The high winds of a day or two since have blown down and broken in three parts the central one of the three Headstones in your Lot No 117 Beech Ave.

I judge that you would wish to be advised of the matter.

Very Respectfully JW Lovering Supt. per Childs.

Mt. Auburn

Henry L. Hallet Esq

Dear Sir

Your favor of the 8th inst with bill received which I regret is not satisfactory.

The charge no more than covers the cost of time & material to us, and was made as low as possible because you were disappointed by our mistake; and you are not charged for the time used in correcting the mistake.

I should not know where to begin, were I to make the charge any less, unless I cancelled it altogether.

I supposed when the work was finally done that it was satisfactory to you, if not, I will cancel the entire charge, if you cannot satisfy yourself that it is a just one, as I believe it to be.

Yrs truly J.W. Lovering
