Dear Madam
The gardener has looked at the ivy on your lot #3225 and says he does not think he can make it grow outside in the winter as they are not at all hardy. Yours Resp'y

Dear Sir:-
The enclosed bill has been forwarded to me by our Treasurer with the request to send you an explanation as to the plants charged. These plants were ordered for this year only, by a lady who came here I think to inspect a monument, the order on file here was signed for you by Col A. A. Rand of Boston.
There is no order for topdressing, nor is it charged in this bill. Am I to understand your note as ordering it now?
Respectfully yours,
Supt.

Dear Sir
I have recently found in several cases that when two proprietors had curbed their lots either in one enclosure or at any rate connected & without passageway, the numbers have been exchanged, so that the lot on ground does not agree with either catalogue or map in number.
It seems very important to avoid mistakes that all lots should be numbered, but it is worse to have a wrong number than to be entirely without.
The lots 2178 & 2179 also 3428 & 3429 are instances of this sort, both are curbed, & I should be glad to be instructed in there & similar cases either to have the parties change their deeds or their numbers.
Respectfully J.W. Lovering

Dear Sir
I find the following lots wrongly numbered.
Lot 2366 | Buy. Beal | numbered on Iron gate | #2368 |
---|---|---|---|
" 218 | Mandell | [numbered on] curb | #1668 |
" 2178 | Bennet | [numbered on curb] | 2179 |
2179 | [Bennet] | [numbered on curb] | 2178 |
*3428 | Thayer | [numbered on curb] | 3429 |
3429 | Hovey | [numbered on curb] | 3428 |
66 |
| [numbered on] base of monument | 667. |
The numbers on these curb lots are "raised in panel"; the raised figures can be cut down, and the same figures sunk in the panel.
Very respectfuly J.W. Lovering
