Dear Lydia,

Just a line to let you know I recieved your letter and the papers you sent me on Aug 25 I am glad you are sending me the papers as I can see who is getting drafted I am interested very much in seeing how many of the San Mateo and Burlingame boys I know get drafted.

Tell Stanley his friend young Barton that he went to High School with was over to see me last night I was glad to see him down here.

And tell Mama & Taid that

young Allen from Burlingame is down here and that I am going over to see him that is Mrs Allen son from the Burlingame Dry Goods Store he just got out of the Hospital he had an opperation performed I do not know what it was for but will find out and let you know.

I am going to send you one of the Aviation Signal Corps Pins we wear I can buy one in the Canteen that is the store where we buy everything.

I am glad you sent me Ottos address I will drop him a card

of them down here and they are not like the Mosquitos in Burlingame they are a lot bigger and when one lights on you you think they have a bigger stinger as you sure can feel it is just like a Bumble Bee stinging you.

I am going to send you some pictures of the Alimo as soon as I go to town and get a chance to use my camera I have taken some pictures already but have not had them developed as I have no money to get them developed with I think we will get Paid in a day or so now as there are not

They also say that this was the coldest winder that they have had here for a number of years some of the Boys in our Squadron belong here in Virginia two of them live at New Port News they are home for a few days now I think that Herb Johnson and I will go to New Port News tomorrow to see what it looks like they say that it is a nice town but that it is not very big they say that it is not much bigger than Burlingame.

Say Ted this is now the 495th Aero Squadron it is no longer the 83rd Aero Squadron I did not transfer to another Squadron they just changed the number of this Squadron.
