completely undermined Capt. Ripley Capt. Evans houses were in undulatory motion & they were obliged to hold on to prevent themselves being thrown down. the Cachery is in ruins every wall being more or less damaged

Augt. 25th. 1858

remained at anchour all day in Kyauk Phyoo harbour the weather being thick & squally. In the evening went ashore with the Captain walked round the Bazaar & up to Capt. Ripley's (in the Morning we had called at Capt. Evans met Dr. Morris). went from Ripley's to Evans. Met Ripley Evans, Bowen Johnstone Cassiagn Morris & Sambo[underlined] Thomas. chafed Sambo about electricity. Songs sung all round. Bischas sing

The day before we left a vessel came in south [Turkish struck out] Mahommedan Colours Green with Crescent. Cassiagni has sent on board by the Capt. & haul it down. A wangabar to[ok] place in Akyab large numbers of fireworks Crackers &ce labyrinth 40 yard square with numberless winding formed of Baulboo the turn out. Common all over Burma Capt. & Mrs. Eales & other ladies out frighten with fireworks. passengers this time to Kyauk Phyoo Dr. Barlow Harper Capt. Leigh Morris. Called at Capt. Evans last night with Dibbs. Ripley & Evans came on board so soon after the "Sr" arrived. Ripley informed me that the Convict affair has been put before [Thomas struck through] the Leut. Govr. & an investigation is to take place.

Wrote a letter home by the "Sr" that left for Calcutta on the 20th Promised to sent Robt. £10 by next mail.

Sunday 26th September 1858 Finished genesis, lying in Kyauk Phyoo harbour. A very warm day

Monday 27th.

Capt. & party Harper Dibbs Leigh Evans Morris Law went out deer shooting. Got a jolly good ducking & killed nothing. dined at Ripleys in the evening. chafed Dr. Barlow Called on Dr. Thomas. Went on board between 9 & 10. Sung Queens letter

Tuesday 28th

Left this morning at 4 o clock for Akyab

line from the Cutter Could not succeed passed a hawser from the Capstan through the After hawser hole heaved upon it snapped. passed a Cable heaved on it without effect the engines backed without effect waited for the flood to make (turns) at 10 oclock) 12 oclock [underscored] got her off the ground & proceeded on. Anchored between 9 & 10 PM outside the wine pipe Boilers leaking badly

Wednesday Decr. 15th. 1858

Got up at 6 (a cloud) saw the B Master much better this morning. deck covd. with steam (leak of the boiler much increased) proceeded on to Kyauk Phyoo at daylight An- chored in Kyauk Phyoo at 12 ocl Capt. Evans & Thomas came on bd. went on shore in the evening with the Capt. Dr. Brown Thomas

Evans Triton went over the jail & Hospital. rode Capt. Evans poney up then called on Capt. Evans go on bd. about 9.

Thursday Decr. 16th 1858

Remained at Anchor in Kyauk Phyoo all day. Capt. Dr. Brown Col. Sage & {{Triton]] went in the Afternoon to drive with Evans pulled in the Jolly boat in the evening with Cassiagni pulled the Jolly from the shore on bd. myself went to the bazaar in the evg. with C Met Col Dr. B Capt. Triton Thomas Got chairs [written above:]all left went beating unsuccessful returned on bd. at 1/2 past 10.

Friday Decr. 17th. 1858

Left Kyauk Phyoo this morninf at 5 oclock got a fine breeze about 7 ocl going along briskly Mrs. Nihill Sailors wife came
