Dear Sir
Your note received. I think you have done sufficient work in Mt Auburn to know that our rule is that foundations must go to the bottom of the grave. There have been so many cases of caving that a foundation that does not go so deep is of no practical use. If you had left the root of those stones as deep as the foundations should be there would have been no trouble. Knowing our rules as to foundations it seems to me you could have included that in you estimate or if you had any doubt about it you could have asked the cost before hand as stonecutters repeatedly do.

Dear Sir
Your note of Apl 29th is received ordering 3 foundations built in the Lucas lot. The work will be attended to at once and you will be notified when it is finished. You are mistaken as to the setting, you can set the stones yourself if you are so disposed. We shall not set them unless you notify us that you desire it done.
Very respectfully James W Lovering pr J.C.S. Supt
