4 When I came here I can assure you that such a Jealousy did exist: And when the Governor shewed me your memorial to day, he intimatd such an apprehension, and observed, that he thought it would be time enough for Tennessee to press such a Claim upon Congress after the claims arising under this State should have been made good
I observed to him that whatever adjust= =ments might take place, between the U. States and Tennessee, relative to the claim of the latter, he might be assured that Ten= =nessee would be faithful to the contract Contained in the Cession Act, and of course would not attempt to dispose of lands until the claims under this state were made good.
He observed that Mr Franklin the Senator had written him for information upon the subject of your memorial
What he may write Mr Franklin I know not, but you may Judge from what has been said that the Cooperation

I have the honor to transmit enclosed the following papers for your infor =mation
1 Copy of a letter to Joseph Anderson Esqr one of our senators in Congress
2 Copy of a letter to Wm Dixon Esqr one of our Representatives in Congress
3 A bill introduced in the senate of the U. S by Mr Franklin from No Carolina declaring the assent of Congress to the act which was the object of the Mission here
As to the two first it will readily occur that they are principally confidential, and will not due to be politicly discussed as part of the business on which the agent was sent here; but as they relate to it, the agent deems it proper to communicate it to the Executive for his information

Sir I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of the notice under your Signature in favor of the Fayetteville Tennessee Bank, respecting the state becoming a subscriber for the stock reserved for her benefit, and have to reply that I will lay it before the Legislature at the present session with those of a similar nature recd from The Jonesbro [sic] and Franklin Banks-

Dr Sir,
Last night there escaped from the sheriff of this county, a man by the name of Jesse Clarke, charged with bur =glary and with horse stealing. Bills of indictment have been found against him for both those offences; and there is but little doubt of his guilt. You are requested to determine from this statement, as to the propriety of issuing a proclamation for his arrest.
