I will undertake the work agreeable To the act passed for that purpose, at any Time your Excellency may please to notify My appointment. I have a sett of books Purchased sutable for the Transcript.

Dear Sir,
Your knowledge of me I hope will be a sufficient apology for any omision or mistake that may be in point of form, as respects the within Certificate; the poles of the election being ^Closed at 4 Oclock P.M, on Saturd^ay a statement of the poles was not brought to the Court House until Monday following, the Law requires, the poles Should be compaired on the succeeding day which was Sunday -
I Recd your letter previous to your last Election, I was as formerly, your friend but could do you but little good as your was a resident of East Tennessee, Electionearing party for Col. Weekley said it ^was like borrowing a man to elect you this hat its affect with many of the people, I done what I could for you, a line from you at any time would be received with thanks

In pursuance of the enclosed resolution of the Senate, John Overton Esquire, and Newton Cannon Esqrs, with your self, have been appointed Commissioners on the part of the United States to hold a treaty with the Chickasaw Nation, for the reservation therein mentioned
You will consider the resolution and the copy of the 4tharticle of the Treaty referred to, which accompanies it, as your instructions in conducting this negotiation
The commission is enclosed to Mr. Overton, the first named commissi =oner, who is requested, in conjunction with Mr. Cannon and your self to fix upon the time and place, most convenient and proper for holding the Treaty
