Charlotte Sept 6th 1830

Dear Sir}

It has become necessary for you to exercise in you [sic] official Capacity the appointment of a Special Judge for the Circuit Courts of Hickman Humphreys & Stewart & Springfield permit me to present to your Consideration Maj Richard Daly who has long been a [pridisey?] atto[rney] among us and [illegible] forward a reputation uninpeached [sic] and [unsurpassed?] a prefferance [sic] of him by you Will be thankfully recived [sic] by many of your freind [sic], In the hurry of the moment we Sent by Judge Humphreys a recommendation of those of the Lawyers who were at Court.

Reynolosburgh [sic] T. January 4 th 1831

To his Excellency William Carrol [sic] Gov. of the state of Tennessee.

It being no longer Convenient for me to attend the busuniess of surveyor of this County, I Beg leave to tender to you this as my Resignation of that appointment.

Enclosed you have a Recom-mendation from several of the Respectable citizens of this county in favor of Esqr. Little to succeed me. In which I most Cordially unite with them and can say to you that I do not believe there will be any other applicant and also advise that the pro. Tem. appointment made soon so that bond of security can be given at our next county County Court - which is the 4th Monday in Jan. [illegible] all of which is Respectfully submited [sic]

Reynoldsburgh May 11th 1831

William Carroll Govr &c.

Dear Sir Having had an office tendered me by the County Court of this County whic= =h I have accepted of it therefore becomes my duty to resign that of Entry taker for this County, which I accoringly do. I would verry [sic] Respectfully Recommend for my Successor Mr Stephen C. Pavatt who is willing to accept of a protem appointment & who is well calculated to discharge the duties of the office & I would further inform you that there is yet some entering of land in this County & that the appointment of Mr. Pavatt or some other Gentleman to that office as soon as is is convenient for you to make it. will by grati fying to some of hte citizens of this County & cannot give offence [sic] to any
