495 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE June 23/84 From G T Magnimins et al for granting a retail liquor license to R Pritchard for house on Jackson Street East end. rejected From Lowman & Colt et al for preventing the sale & use of firecrackers Referred to Fire Comtee From Seifert & Delfel for erecting a barber pole. Referred to Street Comtee Remonstrances From L S Rowe et al against grading Howell, 10th & Bismark Sts. Referred to Street Comtee Communications From the Acting Mayor returning an Ordinance entitled "To appropriate fifteen hundred doallars to be used for the purpose of paying existing indebtedness against the ciyt in account of lighting, cleaning & repairing the streets of the City" without his approval and with his objections in writing to such approval which objections are as follows, to wit: Office of the Mayor City of Seattle June 20, 1884 To the Honorable Common Council of the City of Seattle I have the honor to return herewith without my approval Ordinance No entitled "To appropriate fifteen hundred doallars to be used for the purpose of payingexisting indebtedness against the ciyt in account of lighting, cleaning & repairing the streets of the City" My objections to the Ordinance are First: There is no such indebtedness existing against the City of Seattle as is mentioned in the Ordinance. Second: The expenditure contemplated by the Ordinance is not warranted by our city Charter.
