Petition to Extend City Limits of Seattle To the Honorable, the City Council, the Legislative Body of the said city of Seattle, hereby respectfully petition that the boundaries of the City of Seattle be altered and extended so as to include the new territory hereinafter described within the said City of Seattle after proceedings had as required by law, and that you submit to the electors of said city and to the electors residing in the said territory hereinafter described, the question whether said territory shall be annexed to said City of Seattle and become a part thereof. The said new territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Seattle is particularly described as follows to-wit: Beginning at the point in the center of Lake Washington, which is the Northeast corner of the present limits of the City of Seattle; thence Northerly along the center of Lake Washington to an intersection with the south line of Section Sixteen, in Township Twenty-five, Range Four West, W.M., produced eastwardly; thence West in the waters of Lake Washington and Union Bay along said east line produced to the intersection with the east line of said Section Sixteen, produced southerly; thence North in the waters of Union Bay along said east line produced to the shore of said Union Bay, and thence North along the east line of said Section Sixteen and of Section No Nine in said Township and Range to the quarter-section on the east line of said Section Nine; thence West along the center line of said Section Nine to the quarter-section corner in the west line thereof; thence North along the east line lines of Sections Eight and Five in said Township and Range to the north line of said Township Twenty-five North; thence West along said Township line to the quarter-section corner in the north line of Section One, in Township Twenty-five North, Range Three East, which latter point is the Northeast corner of the present corporate limits of the town (now city) of Ballard; thence South along the center line of said Section One, and Sections Twelve and Thirteen in said township Twenty-five North, Range Three East to the Southeast corner of Government Lot 2, in said Section thirteen, said last-named line being the Easterly boundry of said City of Ballard; thence West along the South boundary of said City of Ballard to the center of Salmon Bay; thence Northwesterly following the present corporate limits of the City of Ballard along the center line of Salmon Bay to deep water in Puget Sound of Admiralty Inlet; thence West to the main channel of Puget Sound or Admiralty Inlet; thence southerly along said main to a junction with the main channel from Elliott Bay; thence Easterly and Southeasterly along the main channel of Elliott Bay to the point in the center of Elliott Bay, which is the Northwest corner of the present limits of the City of Seattle; thence Northeastwardly along the present Northwestern boundry of the City of Seattle to the intersection between the shore of said Elliott Bay and the west line of Section Twenty-four, in Township Twenty-five North, Range Three East; thence North, following the present boundary of the City of Seattle along said west line of said Section twenty-four to the quarter section corner in the west line of said Section Twenty-four; thence East, following the present boundary of the City of Seattle along the center line of said Section Twenty-four, and of Sections Nineteen and Twenty in Township Twenty-five North, Range Four East to the east line of said Section twenty; thence South following the present boundary of the City of Seattle, along the east line of said Section Twenty to the Southeast corner thereof; thence East following the present boundry of the City Seattle along the North line of Sections Twenty-eight and Twenty-seven in Township Twenty-five North, Range Four East, to the shore of Lake Washington; and thence Easterly in the waters of Lake Washington following the present boundary of the City of Seattle to the present Northeast corner of the limits of the City of Seattle and place of beginning, including all waters embraced within the boundaries above described. 1 J F Nelson 2 Fred Hughes 3 A C Roberts 4 G H Horton 5 Angus McAulay 6 John P Weiss 7 R F Smith 8 Jno Reynolds 9 Geo Harper 10 A Hansen 11 O C McGray 12 F R Bratt 13 Rick Giles 14 Alex G Anderson 15 A H Foote 16 P Wickstrom 17 Siimon Zacharia 18 19 Estaban Pepov 20 F C Herrmann 21 J H Carr 22 Geo W Hartzell 23 J R Piddanck 24 Frank Knott 25 A H King 26 Ira Bronson 27 JOhn H Laycock 28 Geo E Few 29 W H Watts 30 Boyd J Tallevan 31 Jno N Jackson 32 Je G Doheny 33 W R McKnight 34 W S Morrison 35 E W McGonisk 36 Elwood F Haishman 37 C B Little 38 E H Kinley 39 M L Wefisd 40 J P Carter 41 N Stupker 42 C A Holmes 43 P B Morton 44 D B Durie 45 Geo T Carden 46 M C Baer 47 J G McCarty 48 Edward Chriete 49 Aug Scheele 50 Jas G Gillies

640 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Be it remembered that on this the 29th day of May 1885 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chambers pursuant to adjournment. The following officers are present towit: His Honor the Mayor John Leary and Councilmen Geo F Frye, W A Harrington, Alfred Snyder, E F Sox, H L Yesler, W G Latimer, W V Rinehart and S D Crockett Thereupon the following proceedings are had: And now the council proceeds with the examination and equalization of hte Assessment roll for the year 1885. Ordered that the following changes be made on said roll John Collins reduced on Hotel Improvements to $25,000. Chas McDonald reduced on Improvements to $300. Ellen K Marshall reduced on Improvements to $6500. P Wickstrom reduced on mortgage to $100. J F McNaught reduced on mortgage to $4370. W D Wood reduced on mortgage to $60. W D Wood reduced on mortgage to $350. Catholic Church reduced on lot to $1300. Catholic Church reduced on organ to $800. James McNaught reduced on mortgage to $8679. W H Reeves reduced on mortgage to $5400. James M Colman reduced on mortgage to $720. W A Harrington reduced on mortgage to $2500. Margaret Sidney reduced on mortgage to $210. An Ordinance is submitted entitled "A special Ordinance appropirating money to pay audited bills" which, after dau consideration is adopted by the following vote:In favor of said Ordinance Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington, Keenen, Lake, McDonald and Young. Against None. Whereupon the following proceedings were had to wit: Petitions and Communications Petition of J Bersch et al for opening Sixth Street between Mill and Terrace Streets. Referred to St Com. Petition of Powers and Meyers to dismiss suit of City against thereupon pament of all costs. Referred to Judiciary Comtee Petitionof C B Bagley for opening roadway in Mercers Second Eden Addition Referred to Street Committee. Petition of P Wickstrom et al for permission to establish a Steam Laundry under the Wisconsin House of Mill St, On motion the petition is granted

425 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Apr 6 1888 wooden building corner Jackson and South Third Streets read and tabled. Petition of Leander Miller for correction of Assessment of Joel Miller read and referred to the Judiciary Committee. Petition of P Wickstrom and others for grading Eighth St. from Union Street to Mill Street read & referred to Street Com. Petition of W.N. White for permission to use powder in clearing and grubbing Fifth Street, read and granted provided the consent of all persons living within one hundred and twenty feet of where such blasting is to be done is first obtained and the contractor held responsible for all damages occasioned by such blasting. Communication from Dexter Horton & Co presenting claim for payment of certain street improvement warrants, read and referred to the City Attorney. Petition of John Krummer for permission to peddle a patented article without first obtaining a license, read and referred to Committe on License and Revenue. Communication of Charles F Reed offering to fill in South Second and Washington Streets read and referred to the Street Committee with power to act. Communication from John Christ in regard to piling in front of and filling in his lot on Mill Street read and referred to the Street Committee. Petition of Seattle Law Company for permission to put a sign post in front of Union Block at the outer edge of the sidewalk read and granted.
