Dear Snedward, When you have read enclosed letters from Mother & Dick send them on to Les.

Introduced myself to Commander Glassford today and found him a most charming fellow. Jack has now got a new idea. He does not want anyone invited to meals. Ella asked me to dinner last night and had to telephone me not to come. She says that he does not want his own sister or the MacKays. I hope he is not going to break down but it does not look good to me. Don't repeat this, as it does no good.

I suppose Mother is with Anna at Nicholson but must be going to Billings any day. I am addressing her there.

No news of any kind. Have had the car washed & polished and the engine, pan and axels etc all cleaned with gasoline. It now looks very well. I suppose I will get dinner tonight and have Jos & Martha down, but we shall miss you.

Lots of love Your loving father HLA Bates
