Dear Sir,

Enclosed please find a sketch of the ground at the corner of Ash and Sycamore Aves., about which you made some enquiry last season.

We should not be disposed to divide the lot, but for the whole, the price would probably be about as follows,

One Deed 2.00
Grad'g, sod'g, posts
set, and no. cut, complete 275.00 @ $375.00

Dr Sir

I saw the late Supt Col. Folsom on yesterday & he says your lots were sold you on the corner of Ash and Halcyon Aves, but without any promise as to the path, so that I cannot recommend the committee to allow you to take the addition you have enclosed in any other way than by paying for it.

Whenever you have obtained the deed for this addition, I can assist you in exchanging your deeds for new ones, dividing the new lots as you spoke of The grading & sodding on the lots will be attended to.

Yours respectfully James W. Lovering Supt.

Wm W. Whitcomb Esq.

Dr Sir

In order to exchange your deeds, I find it customary & desirable to have a survey made of the lots so as to show the proposed changes. It has been customary to do this at the expense of the proprietor desiring the change. If you will authorize me to do this for you, I will attend to it & then lay the whole matter before the Trustees.

Yours truly James W. Lovering Supt

Mount Auburn .

Saml T. Snow Esq. Chairman Comm. on Lots.

Dear Sir

I send you two plans of lots which belong to parties who wish to divide them differently, and exchange their present deeds.

First Case. Warren Sherbourne, (Lots 3021 & 3022. 300 feet each.) States his lots are divided lengthwise, and that he wishes to divide them according to red numbers on plan, so as to deed away new lot 3022 on Petunia Path. His lot is measured to outside of posts, and within these are 553 & 296 feet = 849 feet or 89 feet more than his deeds give him. Should the Committee allow this change, I would respectfully suggest that this additional space of 89 feet be put between the two new lots as a passageway.

Second Case. Wm W. Whitcomb owner of 3116 (230 ft.) has bought lot 2031 (300 ft.) and by permission of late Supt. has united both lots in one for which he wishes to have a new deed, in place of the two deeds he now holds. You will notice he has enclosed 6 feet less than he is entitled to.

At the junction of Halcyon, Ash & Sycamore Ave.

Dear Sir

Your bill for pump work is received and I think the price charged for what you have [?] extremely high -

As regards the pump on Ash Ave you told me it would be $1.50 pr foot finished &$8 for metallic box & you have charged carting & painting additional which is not right -

I think $25. would be a liberal price for what has been done in repairs which added to the $32 price of Ash. Ave pump would be $57 - Please look your bill over & do what is right and oblige

Yrs truly J.W. Lovering

Geo Wm Bond Esq

Dear Sir,

Capt. Winsor says that you have requested him to sell two old lots belonging to the Corporation. I presume you mean those contained on your annual report nos. 567 & 592. --

Lot 567 on Indian Ridge Path belonged to Saml S. Curtis, which he transfd to the Corpn for $100. -- The number has been applied to a lot in another part of the Cemetery & such lot has been sold. The land which is nearly identical with old 567 on Indian Ridge, as I find by plan, is shown by the record to have been sold on the as lot 3493 on Rosebay Av. to Mrs B.C. Clark for $360. But there are 480 feet in lot 3497 while 567 contained but 300 ft --

Lot 592 was on Mayflower Path (as then named). This ^with the tomb the Corpn bought of James Phalen for $215.

The land has since been graded, & if not already sold as some new lot near the junction of Ash Av. with Fountain (on Ash) very soon will be. The locality is probably ^partly in the rear of lot 3608 cor. of Fountain & Ash, & partly covered by lot 3608 -- which was sold, to the heirs of Eli Jones for $2 per foot.

If the Horticultural Society have shared a second time without right in the sales, it is probably not worth while to disturb it now.

Very truly yours

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y
