I got a letter from Fredrick Panton Rixon yesterday telling of his engagement to Maude Boyle, to whom he has been a good deal devoted for a long time. I am very glad to hear it, for we know that she is a very fine girl, and I believe they will be happy. He expects to be called in this draft, and says that he is anxious for the opportunity to serve, and that though the bank wants to file an exemption for Harold, that he will not permit them to do it. They are both anxious to do their part, bless their hearts.

I did finish your socks Edward weeks and weeks ago, but cannot send them now. Did you get my letter written as
