Saturday 22 th June 1833

Began with light ans think weather Ship under all Sail Steering by the wind to the leward the Mazins in Compnay at 6 P M tacked Ship to the Wward Middle & latter part Strong Gales double reefed the rope Sails So Ends Lat Obsd 40:09 Long 70:51

Sunday 23 th

Commenced with fresh breezes from the Sleward Steering by the wind Middle and Latter part STrong Gles from the N ward. Steering SE by S per Compass the day being the Sabbath no labour done more then occasion required So Ends. Lat Obs 38:15 Long 69:35

Monday 24 th

Begins with Strong Gales from the N ward & pleasant weather Steering S E by S latter part the wind cont to the E ward Steered by the wind - to the S ward but S are nothing worth remarks So Ends all well. Lat Obs 37:14 Long 67:58

Tuesday 25 th

Began with fresh Gales from the N E ward. Ship under double reefed Top Sails steered by the wind to the [leward?] latter part the wind conts to the S E ward weather the same all hands employed in getting the whaling gear So Ends All Well. Lat 39:25 Long 66:03

Wednesday 26 th June 1833

All these 24 hours strong gales from the S E ward. Steering by the wind to the le ward Ship under moderate Sail. Saw nothing worth remarks. People Employed in Sundry Jobs of Ships duty as occasion required So Goes all well with the Exception of home Sickness Lat Obs 38:03 Long 62:10

Thursday 27 th

Begins with light winds from the Sth W ward Ship under all possible Sail Steering ESE by Compass a greate Sea [turning?] from the E ward Ship labours very hard middle & latter part Plesant breezes from the Sth E ward Steering by the wind, heading ENE. People Employed in [brakcing?] out [lower?] decks. So Ends. All well Lat obs Long 60: 32

Friday 28th

Through with these 24 hours light airs from ENE vary all Steer to the Sth Eward by the wind but saw nothing worth note hands Employed at ships duty as necssity required So rem Lat Obsd 37: 55 Long 59:20

Saturday the 29 th

Commenced with light breezes from the E ward weather pleasant Ship under all sail at 2 oclock tacked ship latter part fresh winds about Sth W with rain Hands Emp at setting up rigging So remain Lat 38:00 Long 57:20

The day Commenced with a light breeze hard rain took In Top Gallant sails middle the wind breezes attended with heaby thunder and sharp lightening latter part fresh westerly & [ran4?] weather Set TopGallant sails do le fore topmast steering sail saw nothing of note they day being the Sabbath no labour done more than necssity required so [ends?]

Monday the 1 July 1833.

light winds airs throughout the day weahter pleasant Ship under all Sail Steering & by Compass Saw 1 Ship Steering tobthe E ward this day lent A fore Top Sail do a fore & mizen Top Gallant Sails So Ends all well but some black looks Lat obsd 37:15 Long 53:35

Tuesday 2 nd

All these 24 hours light airs from the W ward Ship under all Sail Steering E & S by compass People Employed in Ships duty as occasion required So Ends all well Lat obsd 37:20 Long 51:30

Wednesday 3 th

Begins with light aires from the W ward Ship under all Sail Steering E by S by Compass middle and latter Part Calm and Pleasant all hands Employed in dining [bred?] So Ends Lat obsd 36:57 Long 51:05

Current Setting the Ship at the rate of 30 miles per day latter part Commenced bilding Potato binds So Ends All Well Lat Obsd 36:35 Long 49:38

Friday 5 th

Began with Calm weather middle and latter part light airs from the E and Ship under all Sail Steering E N E by the wind but Saw nothing worth remarks So goes all well Lat Obsd 37:23 Long 47:00

Saturday 6th

this day begins with light airs from the W ward Steering by the E per Compass under all Sail middle & latter part Strong at 1 P M Set the fore Topmast Steering Sail Spoke with a brigh but did not understand where bound. Saw 2 other vessels but did not under stand wher [where] bound People Employed in Sundry jobs of Ships duty. So Ends all well Lat Obsd 37:23 Long 45:20

Monday the 8 th June

Began with fresh winds & dark weat [weather?] Steering E by S by Compass Ship under all Sail 1 Ship in sight standing to the E ward People Employed in Sundry jobs of Ships duty as occasion required So Ends Lat Obs 37:45 Long 39:30

Tuesday th 9 th

all these 24 hours light breezes and dark weather Ship under all Sail Steering E S E by Compass Saw a number of Vessels standing in different directions - watch Employed in Ships duty So Ends Lat Obsd 37:35 Long 37:50

Wednesday th 10 th

Throughout these 24 hours light breezes from the W ward Steered E by Compass Ship under all Sail at 5 passed the meridian Spoke with the [Sumerian?] Barker of [?] Bedford with 45 br Sperm Oil lored a boat and went a br at [10 H 10?] took a lunar by measuring the distance of the [moon?] from the Sun Longitude deduced from this Obs was 34:55 So Ends all well Lat Obsd 38:07
