First part of these 24 hours light winds and Pleasant weather Sturdy S S W by compass under all Sail teh watch Employed in blacking the Ship middle and latter part the wind and weather the Same all hands Employed in Sitting up rigging one Vessel in Sight to the S E ward standing to the Sth W by the wind So Goes all well Lat by Observation was 3:44 Long 25:30

Theese 24 hours Commenced with light airs S S E Ship under all Sail Steering by the wind S S W at 1 passed the Meridean took a Squall from the Sth E at 5 furled the Top Gallant Sails at 6 weather pleasant Set them A M Set them a gain middle and latter part weather the same Steered by the wind all sail watch Employed in Sundry Jobs as occasion required So Ends all well Lat Obsd 4:58 Long 26:0 obs

Thursday the 15 th

This day began with light S E trade winds Steered by the wind S S W by Compass Ship under all sail middle and latter part strong winds with frequent showers took in and made sail as occasion required Saw 2 vessels one ahead and the other a Stern People Employed in bradeing [braiding] Sennet [sennit] in the watches So Ends all well Lat Obsd 6:32 Long 27:16

Friday the 16 th August 1833

Began with Strong winds S S E Steering by the wind to the W ward Ship under all Sail at 1 passed the meridean Calleall hands and Single reefed teh Top Sails at 2 Set the Top Gallant Sails at 3 weather bad furled them again middle and latter part Squally weather at 4 P M took in the Gib and Spanker at the Same time [Front?] Portugease [Portugese]fell over board out of the Chains all hands was Called PBoat directly lowed and with the Smiles of the All mighty saved him Lat 7:52 Long 27:40

Saturday the 17 th

Commenced Strong S E trade winds and Squally Ship under double reefed Top Sails Steering by the wind People Employed in Sundry jobs as occasion required middle part weather the Same latter part more moderate at 6 A M turn out 1 reff and set the Top Gallant Sails Saw A brig to the wind ward Stnading to the S ward latter part hands Employed in making bungs so Ends all well brought up the Cooper & he affliceted with the Ladies fever So goes Lat Obsd 7:16 Long 28:15 west

First part of theese 24 hours Strong Sth E breezes Ship under all possible Sial Steering by the wind at 1 passed the meridean Single reefed the Top Sails and Set the Top Gallant Sails at 6 P M squally handed the Top Gallant Sails talked with A brig from tryeast [Trieste] bound to St Salvador did not understand where bound Middle part the weather increasing double reefed the Top Sails latter part weather more moderate turned 1 reef out & Set the Top Gallant Sails the day being the Sabbath no labour done more than occasion required. Commenced with fresh S E trade winds Ship under Single reefed Top Sails & Top Gallant Sails at 2 passed the meridean [meridian] tok [took] a lunar by measuring the distance of the moon from the Sun latter part weather moderate make all sail the larboard watch Employed in fitting the Fore Top Gallant yard So Ends All well Lat Obsd 12:38 Long by lunar 28:38 28:40 by obs

Began with Strong Sth E trade winds Ship under all Sail Steer by the wind at 2 P M the single reefed & set the main Top Gallant sail unbent the gib to [min?] at 4 bent it again [lashed?] the mizen Top Gallant mast and Put the rigging on and sent it up again middle part weather more moderate sit the fore Top Gallant sail latter Very Squally handed the Top Gallant Sails So goes all well Lat Obsd 15:53 Long 28:45

Theese 24 hours Commenced with fresh winds winds from E by Sth Steering S by E by compass under single reefed Top Sails at 2 P M sit the fore & main Top gallant sails bent the mizen but did not set it middle & latter part wind & weather about the same at 7 A M sent down the fore Top Gallant yard unbent the Sail larboard watch Employed in fitting the yard So Ends Lat Obsd 18:08 Longitude 28:30

Friday the 23 rd

Began with fresh winds & pleasant weather Ship under Single reefed Top Sails Steering Sth by compass at 2 P M turned out the reefs & set the Top Gallant Sails unbent the main sail & stowed it below & bent an othermiddle part weather increaisng furled our Top gallant sails latter part more moderate sit then again at 7 A M steered Sth by W at 10 made Martin Vass bearing S S W distance 50 miles So Ends Lat Obsd 20:17 Long 28:22

Commenced with strong winds from the E ward Steering by the wind to the Sth E ward at 2 P M Martin Vass largest rock bore W distance 15 miles at 3 Passed a brig Steering N at sun set left the land off our Starboard quarter. weather increasing fuled the Top Galland Sails & reefed the mizen top sail, hands Employed in meding a fore Top Sail to a mizen latter part weather pleasant Sit all Sail People Employed in Sundry jobs of Ships duty as occasion required So Ends all well Lat Obsd 22:18 Long 28:00 per [Count?]

Began with Fresh breezes at E steering S S E with all sail set at 2 P M unbent the fore Top Sail & Stowed it below & bent another Saw a munber of hump backs but no whates at sun set fuled our Top Gallant Sails latter part weather moderate Sit all sail Saw a plenty of finbacks the day being the Sabbath no labour done more than occaseion required So goes the time one day after another Lat obsd 22:14 Long 26:11

Throughout theese 24 hours Pleasant breezes from about E Steering by the wind to the E ward with all sail set saw a number of hump backs at 6 P M passed a brig Steering N Saw a few bank birds watch Employed in rattling the main Top Gallant rigging So Ends Lat Obsd 25:52 - Long 25:30
