The old womans oyntment for Livergrown
children & great Bellys & hardnes after Agues
Alsoe for Aches & sprains
Take Rossmary sage wormwood each 6 pound
camomile 4 pound savory the Tender leaves
of Elder & of comphry each 2 pound all these
must be stript from the stalk & weighed
severaly & chopt very small & put into a
Brasse Kettle then put to them as much clari
fied Butter as will cover them & a little more
set them over the fire a little then let it stand
a month stir down the verdegreac ofe of the
Kettle into the Herbes & then let it stand
10 weeks stirring it once stirring it once a fortnight then
straine it & set it over the fire againe
scum it very clean & put in 3 pound of
Deers suit a pint of the marrow of a stone
Horse clarified a [grr] of a pound of Beares
greace which may be had at the Apothycarys
put it up for your use you must Anoynt
the sides & Belly well chafeing it in &
keeping one the same cloth always

A purging Powder for the Ricketts by the same
A gtr of a pound of Jolape rootes pare them
then powder them scorch it then take halfe
an ounce of scamony the same of cream of Tarter
prepared in powder give a man or woman halfe
a dram divide it in 3 parts for a child give it in
white wine poset drink or mace Ale the parings will
make [] it drink in the spring

For a Rupture most extraordinary Mrs Howland
Take a pint of Agua Composita halfe a pound of Deers
suit a handful of Daysy Rootes & leaves the same of
comphry & as much of the budds of the Ash trees while
they are black shreed them alltogether put them alto
gether in an earthen pott let it boyle 12 hower then
strain it & keep it in a pott or pan Annoynt the place
warme with it for halfe an hower holding a hott gron
over the place while you anoynt it to warm it well in
then lay a Ragg dipt in it on the place & put on the
Truss for this night & morning for a month together
you must have two grons while one is useing let the
other head & wear the Truss til the folowing March
is over
