Hon. J. P. Nicks, Chariman, City Water Works Committee, Ft. Worth, Texas,
Dear Sir:-
We have arranged to equip our brick building in which we do business with automatice fire sprinklers. It will require a six inch pipe running from the city main into the building and connecting with an 8000 gallon tank on top of building. From the tank the water would be conveyed throughout the building in smaller pipes, something after the order of gas pipes.
This system will be for fire protection only; will not be connected with any other water supply, and even if we desired the water could not be used for any other purpose.
In case of fire this equipment should extinguish it in its incipiency with the use of only a few gallons of water, and the city would save the expense and wear and tear that would otherwise be placed on the fire department.
We make this explanation and ask that your honorable body, the City Council, grant us permission at once to connect the 6 inch pipe with the city water main- the work to be properly done at our expense.
Captain Scoble does not think that it would be to the interest of all parties to make connection with the 18 inch pipe on Front Street and suggests a connection with the 8 inch pipe on Throckmorton just North of Front Street. which connection we ask for
We agree put in a cut off valve located where desired by the City.
Yours respectfully,
H.W. Williams & Co.
We recommend the above as suggested by the supt of Water Works and on condition that they pay the sum of 25.00 pr yr rental.
W. H. Ward.
