or twice a day, but I often give it in much larger doses. A lady
laboured under hemorrhagy fourteen days before I saw her. I
found her with a quick and irritated pulse, flushings, severe pains
in her loins, and head much affected. I advised V.S. to this
she objected. I administered the sugar of lead and in less than
one hour the hemorrhage was considerably diminished about four
hours after the first dose she took a second which so completely
relieved her that there was no necessity for continuing the medicine.
I was called to a woman with a hemorrhage from the uterus
and every other symptom of abortion, she was almost breathless
the hemorrhage still continued. I immediately gave her three
grains of Sach. Sat. and one of opium which in a verry short
time diminished the discharge before I left the room she told me
I had saved her life. The Sach. Sat. will check all active
hemorrhages much sooner than general bleeding, low diet, or any other
means. I declare to you Gentlemen that I have never seen
any bad effects from the Sach. Sat. in Uterine hemorrhages
whether active or passive. I think Uterine hemorrhages are generally
active hence it will be improper to use bark, steel, &c. Is Sach.
Sat. usefull in preventing abortion, I answer yes without any
