Balsam Copaiva. Or Copaiffera Officinalis
is used as a Diuretic in Gonorrhea and in Gleet, with much
advantage, tho its use has been confined to the last stages &
hence it has not met with that general success which it would
otherwise. For the last 10 years I have trusted to it alone
in the cure of those diseases and have met with general success,
but instead of giving 5 or 10 gtt. [drops] I give 40 morning and night, on
a little sugar. In the exhibition of it one caution is necessary
in the curative process of gonorrhea I.E. an abstinence from
all stimulating and high seasoned food.

(5) This preparation by many is considered a specific.
