Jaffrey, N.H.
Rain, rain, rain! The morning opened with rain and mist. We
did some packing. In the middle of the morning, the sun made a
few glimpses and Miss Boyd took a photo of Margie. Then I
started off to get some Aspidium acrostichoides for Margie
up the Kellar Road where I got it Sept. 8th. Met Mr Poole
and has a long talk with him about the war &c. He
was with Sheridan in the Shenandoah Valley. Mean-
while the rain began. I was entirely unprotected
and got soaking. Still I got the ferns. Margie met
me on the return at the school-house with umbrella
& coat. I had to make an entire change of clothing.
This P.M. We have been packing for we return
to-morrow.
