Left my wheel at Rob's and went to the Interscholastic exhib.
in Mechanics Hall. We were well out it, scoring but 3
points. Wors. High won (28) pts. Mounted this evening.

Clear, beautiful day. After breakfast wheeled to
Medford, through Arlington and spent the
A.M. with L.L. Dame, seeing the drawings
for his new book, and discussing points. Home
to dinner. 12 m. in all. Herb. work this P.M.
Went to Boston with M. and took tea at the Brunswick
with Aunt Marion. Geo. & Mary were there.

Fine. day. Wheeled to school & back going to the Bot.
Garden this P.M. 9 1/2 m. Saw Dr. R. [?], and Fernald
and Greenman. Hunted through many books to find
some reference to the nonappearance of ♂ {male} fl. in
Populus balsamifera, var. candicans. At last I found
in Torrey's Fl. of State of New York" "Sterile
ament not seen." They have doubtless never been
seen. Dame set me on the track, as he wants
fresh specimens for his artist.

My Pinguiculas are flowering beautifully. It
is now just 3 wks since we put them
in to the dishes — They are very beautiful.
