Peanut Cookies

4 L. sugar 2 L. Shortening 1 Egg 1 L. cocoa 2 L. milk 1 tsp. baking powder pinch of salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 cup flour 1 pinch soda if buttermilk is used

Cream shortening; add sugar gradually. Beat egg and add to creamed mixture. Add liquid and dry ingredients which have been sifted alternately. Drop by teasp -oonfuls greased baking sheet.

Pecan Parlins

2 cups brown sugar 5 tbsp water 1 cup chopped pecans 1 tbsp butter

Mix sugar and water. Cook until it boils. Add pecans and butter and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. Drop on wax paper to cool.
