At a meeting of the vestry of St: John's Church, held in
the Brick Chapel, on Tuesday, the 2: of Feby. 1892.
Present
Rev: L.W. Burton, Rector, presiding, and
Messrs James W. Shields, Cyrus Bossieux, John A.
Curtis, John F. Mayer, G.G. Minor, Thomas S. Macon
Joesph R. Roane, George L. Currie, Benjamin F, Howrad
and and George K. Taylor
The meeting was opened with prayer;
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
A communication from Lee and Pickett camps
asking that a Church collection "be taken up for
the benefit of the proper care and maintenance
of the disabled veterans, now at the "Soldiers Home"
and others seeking admission thereto" was read
to the meeting, and, in motion, was said action
on said communication was postponed
until the next meeting of the vestry.
The following resolution was adopted
Resolved, that on and after the 1st of February, 1892,
that all pledge envelopes for Weddell Memorial
Chapel be eliminiated from St: John's list of
pledges, and turned over to the treasurer of
the Brotherhood.
The Rector made a statement to the vestry of the
financial condition of the Church, by which it
appears that the Church's revenue at this time
is not sufficient to meet its expenses, on motion
of Capt John A. Curtis, it is
Resolved, that a circular letter he be written
by the finance committee and addressed
to the congregation of the Church, representing
the financial condition of the
Church and calling on them to increase
their contributions.
