Boston, F F Raymond Esq.

Dear Sir,

I have with the Superintendent measured your brother's lot in Mt Auburn.

It measures across the front and rear inside of the curb - 17 feet and the two sides are 21 feet strong. i.e. 21x17=357f.

This is off more than was reported as sold to Mr Raymond, as an addition. The curb is of expensive work, and of course he must have known that he had enclosed some fifty feet over his first purchase.

You will not expect the lot to be good without a deed of this: nor can it be expected that the Corpn will relinquish their claim to pay.

As the by-laws protect any gratuitous disposition of lots, or land.

Yours truly A.J. Coolidge

Geo Penniman Esq Treasr Granite Railway Co.

Dear Sir,

I have been instructed to forward you a copy of a vote of the Trustees of Mount Auburn Cemetery, passed at a meeting of the Board . - which is as follows: -

"Voted that the Committee on Grounds be instructed by the Board to give notice to the contractors for the granite front of the new catacomb tombs in course of construction between Rosebay and Culvert Avenues, that this Corporation will not accept said granite front on account of imperfections in the stones, and for defective construction."

I am Resp.y yours, Austin J. Coolidge Secretary of Mount Aub. Cem.ly

33 School St. Boston,

Wm. B. Bacon Esq

Dear Sir,

It appears from a recent interment in Mr D.G. Bacon's lot in Mt Auburn, that your numbers upon the lot have not been made to correspond with those of your deeds, and as in the Catalogue of Proprietors. I have ascertained that the numbers have been cut upon the Stone; hence it is impracticable to attempt correction there.

The only course, therefore, left for you is to transfer your deed to your brother, & he the same to you. Unless you do this, some future interment will be the occasion of a mortifying blunder by opening a grave in the wrong lot.

I will attend to the matter for you at any time; but shall have to charge you for the record.

Yours truly

A.J. Coolidge Secretary.

Stillman Willis Esq.

Dear Sir,

Will you authorize me to let Capt Winsor, our Supt, have four 8 inch granite posts set on the corners of your 6 lots on Lawn Avenue - 2940 to 2945 inclusive, that your bounds may be established.

We have sold the last lot left on Laburnum Path, and wish to have all these lots put on the new survey: but wooden sticks are very liable to be misplaced.

The expense to you will not exceed $10. -

Please reply and oblige.

Yours truly

Mr Curtis has asked me to write you a note, inquiring whether it is true that the work was done upon the Bradford lot without your knowledge.

As there is a meeting next Monday, when Mr Curtis proposes to bring up this matter, with a view to afford the Tileston's some remedy, your reply before that will much oblige him.

Yours truly

A.J. Coolidge Secy

Please address your answer to me.

Boston, Jona. Mann Esq

Dear Sir,

Miss Sarah A. Tileston, propr or daughter of the propr of lot 2317, on Sylvan Path, but which fronts towards Walnut Avenue, has written Mr Curtis, complaining of the obstruction to a passage way from 2d Avenue to this lot by means of the manner in which the lot of Alden Bradford, no 176, Walnut Avenue, is enclosed. - Mr Curtis was informed by Miss Tileston that you expressed surprize at seeing the Bradford posts set as they were, and gave her to understand that you were not consulted about it, and were ignorant of it at the time.

Mr O.A. Brigham

Dear Sir,

The Superintendent has requested me to say to you that he cannot give you a square lot where you staked on Pyrola Path without pushing your lot westward about four feet, as the curvature of the path makes an angle there which would be wasted unless more space is preserved to make a triangular lot between you and the next lot eastward.

He will not therefore stake it out until he hears further from you.-

As I do not find your name in the Directory, I am obliged to write instead of seeing you and explaining.

Please call in & see me, or go and see him at your earliest convenience.

Yours respy.

Mr Francis W. Upham

Dear Sir,

A deed of a lot of land in Mt Auburn, from Abbie M. Shannon to yourself was left at my office more than a year and a half since for record. As the transfer does not give your location, and as I was out of the office at the time, the deed was left, I have never been able to complete the record, nor to return you the deed.

If this note reaches you, please call and get your deed.

Yours respy.

A.J. Coolidge Sec.y Mt Auburn
