Tuesday July 25th. Warm and windy. Did not go out in the
morning. In the afternoon attended J. School and church.
Father preached an excellent sermon from 1 Cor. 10 19
Joseph Wilde accompanied me home. Did not go out
in the evening. Kate, Hattie, & Douglas attended Ms M. [illegible]
Monday. Miss Hagly, the dressmaker, was here today sewing
for Kate. Joseph Wilde and Leigh Dickinson spent the
evening with us - Leigh brought a ticket for us for
the [Commencement?] of Colombia College on Wednesday.
Aunt Graves came over in the morning + staid a short time
Tuesday. Pleasant. - Dressmaker here - Hattie + Kate went to
New York in the morning shopping - R Me. Cassie + I
spent in calling on our young friends in Bushwick.
Samuel Wilde and and William Tyler spent the evening here.
We all made fun of Sam, poor fellow! - We were all
very lively but I did not enjoy myself much, and felt
very unpleasantly towards J. - who to tell the truth
talked foolishly enough to provoke anyone of common
sense - provokingly ridiculous! - Though I retired almost
wishing I might never see him again I laughed myself
to sleep.
Wednesday. Pleasant. Had a long talk with Kate at noon
quite a confidential one by the way,
Harriet packed her things in the afternoon - she was not
very well - Spent the evening in writing to Mary
In the morning, wrote to Kate Hudson.
