Charles Town

Miss Clara Houff called and took me
in to the Presbyterian church right
next door. Very pleasant to hear the fam-
iliar service, and a good sermon by Dr.
Hopkins - music good, particularlly Mr.
Fulton's voice. saw Mr. & Mrs. Kyde, a
young bride and groom. Mother and
Cousin Dellie did not go out and when
Cousin Sam returned from his church, he
Mother and I walked up to the Episcopal
grave yard and in to the church. Then
through the Cemetery, when we found
Carrie Jones Raum's grave out past the
depot, and up the hill to the new part of
the town - went up on the porch of the
big Hotel Powhatan, and some distance
beyond that to look at the glove and other
factories, and buildings: Cousin Famie and
Maude called in the morn. for me to go to
Church with them. Had a late dinner and
no supper. Mr John Howell and Harry
came right after dinner and a little later
Mr. John Hall - much talk and monopoly.
Harry and I took a nice walk out to the
Toll gate, via Hunter's Hill. met Maude
and Annie Macon - such a grand view
of the Mountains, the gap Harper's Ferry.
saw the snow storm over the mountain tops.
When we returned Cousin Dellis sent us
with a message round to Cousin Ruth &
Fannie Brown's. where we heard a lecture
on Nicotine! Cousin Sam, Mother & I heard Dr.
Smithson at the Methodist church in the [illegible]
