Watkins scholarship
awarded to
Shibley
[/margin]

H.H.T. Shibley appeared and reiterated
the charge contained in his Protest. H.C. Fowler
was then called in and denied that he
had profited in any way by forbidden helps
during the examination for the Watkins
scholarship, but confessed that he had looked
into a glossary on one of the Greek subjects,
and had looked over the papers of one of
the other candidates. Whereupon the Senate
resolved that H.C. Fowler has forfeited
the Watkins scholarship and that H.H.T.
Shibley who obtained the next highest
number of marks is entitled to it.

Closed with the benediction.

[/margin]

There was read a Petition from twelve
freshmen for a transposition of the hours
of two of the classes viz. German and Rhetoric
and English literature. The Senate declined
making the transposition asked for,
having ascertained that it would be objected
to by certain students who have chosen one
or other of the above classes in the expectation
that the hours specified in the Calendar would
be adhered to.
