Inquiry has been received in this office regarding the meaning of the aboriginal word "Coonameena". Possibly such should be spelt with a 'K' instead of a 'C'. If you are able to obtain any information on this word, will you please advise as soon as possible.

Re: Enquiries Native Words - Your Ref. 1A/230. In reply to your memo of 24th ultimo, the meaning of the aboriginal work "Kalinga" is Recreation ground, so called from the fact that wrestling matches took place there in earlier days.
Up to date no meaning for "Eprapah" has been discovered from the natives here. The dialect from which it comes is unknown here.
