Drove to Ashton, called at E. Lea's-
Addie Powell(colored) called for advice
and Rush Robert's called went with him
to look at his house near the mill. Benj
Johnson(colored) called for advice &c-

22° Tuesday
{January 23}

Went to Robt Awkard's and thence
to Ashton Chas: Stabler called.
Went to "Brighton" took tea at E
Peirce's after which I took him and
his daughter Fanny to the exhibition
at St Luke's church where I read
"Shamas O Brien" -Reached Riverside
at 10-30 pm- Beautiful moon light-
Retired past midnight-

{January 24}

Went to Edwd Lea's thence to office
Chas Porter called also Miss Mary
Thomas & Ed Bentley. Went to Fulford
and dined thence to Sandy Spring, thence
to B Rush Robert's, offered him 1,800 for
house & lot near steam mill with line extended
from E. line of stable N. to turnpike. Recd:
Post card from D.W.C. Slept none last
night-

Thursday
{January 25}

Quite cold- drove to office
wrote to J.P Silver- Dr A. Riggs called.
B Rush Roberts called at the office
and we definitely concluded a bargain
& sale of the house & ground. I buying it at $1,800,
including change of line to include the stable and
run the length of the lot- E side of stable to be
the new line. Interest (6 prct) to be paid for three
years, where $300 of princepal shall be paid an&d $300
annually until all is paid. Possession as soon as
papers can be made out and executed-

Friday
{January 26}

Took tea last night at Fulford. Thos came
to office with me & drove my buggy back, I
staid all night at the office, & a miserable
night I had. Nearly sufficated with gas from
the stove & frozen with cold. Walked to Fulford
to breakfast feel miserable all day-

Saturday{
January 27}

Quite busy at the office, went to
see Catherine Williams, called at
Warwick Miller's. Went to Fulford
and spent the night. Met Francis
Stabler there.
