Clear Ther. 33o TUES. DEC. 26th, 1893 Wind N.W. The wind commenced blowing from west & N. West early this morning and it is much colder than for some days past. Afternoon Edwd & "Phil" drove up to "Olney" in the Surry & brought home Dora's trunk. which Charley sent from Brunswick to Rockville & thence by stage to Olney. Charley & Ida sent us some Christmas presents in the trunk. Lizzies Scott called and left us a nice lot of sausage & scrapple. "Phil" supper with us. After tea Edwd went with Miss Mary Fowler to some kind of a Christmas entertainment at the Ashton church.

Clear Ther. 28o WED. DEC. 27th, 1893 WindS.W. Cold & frosty this morning. Chas: Hopkins (son of Levi) was here and I extracted a tooth for him. Dora recd: a note from Lizzie Tyson that Edward had carried in his pocket for more than a week: as it enclosed a Christmas present for D it was mortifying that she could have not acknowledged the receipt of it before. Lizzie left home to spend the winter in Florida. "John" came about 11. o'clk and took me down to Ashton (in the phaeton) to see Mr: C M Colt. It was my first ride for about 4 months having been taken sick on the 13th of September. I enjoyed the ride and hope it will do me good as it is bright "sunshiny" day and little or no wind. although cold & frosty the air was sweet & pure. Edwd: rode up to Brighton (to E Peirce's, & Alice & Fanny came back with him in time for, and they all including Dora went to an entertainment at the Lyceum, leaving H & myself to keep house alone.

Cloudy Ther. 32o THURS. DEC. 28th, 1893 Wind S.W. Dark cloudy morning: it rained for a short time about 7. o'vlk, but soon "held up" and was cloudy and threatening the ballance of the day. Alice & Fanny Peirce left for home about 10. o'clk. I feel very stiff & sore today. Walked up to Henderson's house for the papers & to the mill for some "Daisy" flour with which to make yeast powder according to Charley's directions; mixing it with some white powder which he sent his mother in Dora's trunk. "Samuel Lyle's" a yellow man (from Howard Co:) was here & I extracted a tooth for him.

Cloudy & Clearing Ther. 33o FRI. DEC. 29, 1893 Wind S.W. & N.W. It was cloudy most of fore part of the day, but cleared off afternoon. I walked up to the mill after dinner. Bro: Charles called. Edwd rode "Frank" down to Ashton. Mrs Robison came in to consult me for herself, just at dusk. I prescibed for her, giving her some medicine & telling her to go home & go to bed, until she was better. This has been very unusaul weather for the time of year - today was more like a "spring day", and we have had little or no real winter weather so far, notwithstanding the predictions of the weather wise news paper prophets: that we were to have an unusually severe winter.

Cloudy & Rain Ther. 35o SAT.DEC. 30th, 1893 Wind N.E. Dark & rainy this morning. Mrs Robison sent "Phil" in for advice & c for herself. Edwd rode "Frank" down to Ashton to mail a note from Harriet to Patty Stabler requesting the renewal of our membership with the "Book Club", also a note to Janney Shoemakers wife explaining that as no book came to us we could not forward one to her as we have always done in our turn. Afternoon Edwd went to "Cloverly" to take his music lesson. I went over to Mrs: Robison's and towards evening I went up to the mill & bought some corn (on the ear) Hillis & Frank went with me & wheeled it down for me. "John" came to see if there was anything he could do for us, about dusk and we gave him his supper and as it was very dark and sleeting when he started for home I loaned him a lantern: he is to try to get Green Howard to bring us a load of straw & John Bentley a load of hay on monday next.

Edward & Hallie Bentley & their three hildren called just before supper time & sat some time with us. Edwd came home before dark from Edwd Peirce's.
