of the crop seemed to be about the right amount. A field of Sudex had been cut twice for green chop & was putting up good growth for a third cutting. A trench silo 31' x 150' will hold over 1000 tons of silage & was ready for the corn crop.

We passed the dry cows which were exceptionally large & of excellent type & saw from a distance a part of the main herd Roger is now milking 104 cows.

Returning from the tour of inspection we paused on the lawn for some very pleasant refreshments & then went in the house to sit down to a feast of ham, chicken, & and all the accessories, as special features were the home grown lima beans which were as fine as have ever been served anywhere.

After dinner the meeting was called to order on the lawn. We noted as guests: Calvin Calis Robt Tregoning, Frank & Bob Gladhill, David Patrick, Mr. Meyer

One Dairy was milking about 400 cows. - av. 50 lb head They were buying heifers for about $600 - Heifer run higher in solids rather than fats than older cows do.

The farmer had over 100 heifers on 35 acres of land no grain - but irrigable pasture [?] Pasture all but 2 months/yr.. It was a most interesting trip.

Questions - Jim Wightman - Our peaches have rot in spite of spraying It is probably due to wet weather. Harry Goff has sprayed + apparently has fairly good control. The question was raised as to the seriousness of the Southern Corn blight. Roger Buxton apparently has little damage. Rudell Beall has some. Frank Willson reported that he has an appaloosa horse pasturing at his place that will stand on its hind legs + eat apples off a tree. This sounds like one of Franks "tall tales." Norbert Behrenrdt mentioned that he had located a man in Carroll Co who does a good job of fence construction at competetive prices.

Dr. Shank reported that is had been determined that

the heifer that it had been previously reported had died of poison from licking a [bicycle?] had actually died of encephalomyelitis.

He also reported that there we 240 head of Jersey cattle exhibited at the Co Fair, more than of any other breed.

There was a discussion of the horse disease VEE. This has not yet been found in MD.

Adj to meet with Tim Conner on the 3rd Sat in Sept in order to avoid conflict with the [?] of Lions Club Horse Show.
