Bob Stabler said he had read a report that McDonalds Hamburg chain used 1300 tons of hamburger per wk.

Doug O Keefe made remarks about Sec. Darrington Riggs reminded us that we had agreed to l report the average of various crops each of us grows. Members we asked to l bring in figures at the Dec Meeting.

Darrington Riggs - What is the chance for wheat that is seeded this late? Most think that it is a 50-50 chance - for a good crop

Harry Goff - Should I put fert on pasture this late? - It probably will pay to put it on even tho late.

Norbert Behrendt - He Asked about Milo as a substitute for corn It has about the same feed value but does not yield as well on corn here, but better than corn in dry areas. - Donnie Hobbs - Is it too late to plant bluegrass? Most think not. Tim Conner - What is it worth to mow with a 1 pt rotary mower? $350/ ac. or $1200/ hr (over)

3 Sam Riggs - Why don't people grow soy beans around here? They can be grown here but our farmers are more familar with corn & [strek?] to that.

Mike Lethbridge asked what the crop is that is being grown around Daisy in Howard Co? It has a purple bloom & we hear it is planted as a cover for sod? He will try to find out what it is.

SPS asked Lea Gilpin who is Pres of SSVFD to tell us something about the workings of the Fire Dept. The new Bldg at Olney has proved to be very more expensive than planned. They Hope to get into operation by Dec 1. Will have several paid men but still hope to have many volunteers. Probably about 12 [?] men at both stations. Sandy Sp gets tax funds from Co tax rev. This area now is assessed at 18¢ per $100 & up to now each area has been supported by taxes from its own area. Hereafter funds will will be pooled & allocated by the county. Lea is This is now big business but as far as Sandy Spring is concerned there is still the same spirit of community effort that was present in the early days. the old times when the community neighborhood depended entirely upon the volunteers to protect their property & to raise the necessary funds to finance the Dept. Lea is to be commended for doing an excellent job as Pres. Adj to Harry Goffs in Dec.

The club met on the regular date in Dec. with Harry Goff for its 1248th meeting

We met at St. Johns parish hall home at Olney for dinner. We were served at a special table as part of their annual turkey dinner, supplemented by corned beef which was a Goff addition to an already fine dinner

After dinner we adjourned to Harry's beautiful home on Ednor Rd (formerly Cedar Lane) for our meeting.
