literally on the evening of June 21st 1879, as
it was decidedly later getting to business than

grain are, naturally, paramount at this
season of the year, as he who raises a crop and
then permits it to waste in the field must
be considered the poorest of all poor farmers.
Most of our gentlemen members dropped in at
supper time and there were a number of guests
present, Elizabeth G. Thomas, Carrie S. Bond
Miss Clark, Lucy Janney, Pattie T. Farquhar
and son, George L Stabler & wife, Llewellyn
Massey, wife and daughter. The walk was a
partial success only, as it included neither
the new dairy or a distant truck patch.
The berry bushes gave promise of much fruit,
and some flourishing young rose bushes deserve
honorable mention. Owing to the clearing of considerable
forest on this farm, the view from the
porch is much more extended that formerly.
The subject of strawberries was discussed
and the Monarch of the West was highly praised
by some, while others still cling to their first
love the Wilson. We have read that this latter variety
should never be sweetened until just as they
are eaten, and they will not be found to need
