are incorrigible

best. The latter number however proves
to be in the minority _ so we give up all
efforts to try and improve ourselves in
that way _ forgetting that the disagreeable
task often proves to be the
most salutary one, and also overlooking
the fact, that each would probably
be the most severe critic of his own work.
If we would once give ourselves a chance
to display our abilities as essayists,
who knows what talents might be unearthed _
we might then find ourselves
possessed of gifts that would otherwise
be lost to the world _ We do not know
our own strength until we try it.
The old quotation applies to some of us _
"Fain would I climb, but that I fear to fall."

The proposal to resurrect the chip box was
approved by all _ Edward Thomas &
C. H. Brooke read interesting articles
Wm S. Bond & Mary E. Moore were appointed
to read at our next meeting at Roderick
Stabler's April 17th 1880.
