Olney Inn #642 Sep. 23/30

On the evening of Sept. 23rd The Home Interest gathered
promptly at 6 o'clock at "Olney Inn", The guests of Elizabeth
and Elgar Farquhar, The happy thoughts of Clara May
and Dorsey Downey enabled The H.I. to enjoy once
again The hospitality of Mt. Olney The one time home
of Patty & Granville Farquhar where so many former
meetings of this Society had been held. A most delicious
supper was served in the new dining room with its
lovely outlook to the South and West.
The Meeting was called to order by Mortimer Stabler,
and the attention of those present was called to the
wall decorations recently completed by Oscar Hornstein
a Hungarian. These represented scenes in Maryland
history such as tobacco raising the burning of The
Peggy Stewart, and pictures of the friends meeting
at Sandy Spring, and one of our own dear Clifton"
to which home The Home Interest was said to adjourn
whenever in need of a place to meet.
The minutes of the last two meetings held at
Mt. Olney, & the minutes of the last meeting at Shadyside
were read and thoroughly enjoyed by members and
guests, of whom there were a goodly number, present.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and
approved with one correction, Mrs. Harry Stabler says
no shrubs have died at their house.
As Fred Thomas was the only one present of the trio
appointed to conduct the program for the evening
Edwin Morris was asked to give an account of a
recent trip that he & his family and Mary Willis
Farquhar had taken thro the West which he did to
the edification & diligent of those present. We all
cried for "More" when he drew to a close, but he
would not be persuaded to continue so we came back
to the effete East, and The chairman announced that
the next Meeting would be with Joe & Huldah Janney
at "Retreat", Clifton & Homestone following in order.
