Today's (N. Y.) Christian Advocate contains Bishop Hurst's memorial address at the Metropolitan M.E. Church at Washn. It is an appropriate and truthful tribute to your lamented husband. The more I saw of Senator S. the more profoundly was I impressed with the fact that in his personality true godliness and true manliness

at S.F., calculated to do him harm in his reputation, he very nobly responded "I never publicly notice newspaper traduction." Few ladies of this or any other land ever had so majestic a man for a husband as yourself, and his own splendid life will always be an inspiration to you.
