SHEPLEY, RUTAN & COOLIDGE ARCHITECTS Menlo Park, June 11, 1888

Authur Brown, Esq. Dear Sir,

The sash for cellar windows will be ordinary cellar window sash, 1 3/4 inch thick, --4 lights,--hung at top with back flaps and provided with fasts to keep open and shut.

These windows are shown on general drawings with box frames,--only half the opening would be available for air.

The object of this communication is to deside [sic] the matter, and to take whatever responsibility there is, for making the change.

Yours truly Chas. D. Austin Supt. for Shepley, Rutan & Coolidge P.S. Have details for window sash been finished? C.D.A.

SHEPLEY, RUTAN & COOLIDGE, ARCHITECTS.

Menlo Park,

Aug. 17th 1888

Arthur Brown, Esq.

Dear Sir,

Lay hearths in library and dining room (Gov. Stanford's residence) with plain red unglazed tile. Face fireplaces with the same. Line the fireplaces with pressed face brick, to be of as near the same color as the tile, as can be readily obtained. To be laid with red mortar, with fine joints.

Glass to be the same as in old part of house. It is apparently about 26 y. All glass to be 1st quality, except in basement and kitchen wing where 2nd quality may be used. Use obscured glass in all lights in lavatory or wash room on 1st floor.

If it is difficult to obtain the large lights required for library and dining-room
