One of them is and the other isn't. I will get a credit per quarter for my work on it.
I have been over to supper and heard a lecture by Dr. Jordan since starting this letter. Dr. Jordan was the first president of Stanford and has been everywhere and knows everyone. He was in Europe trying to prevent a World War in nineteen fourteen and he lectured tonight on conditions in Europe. He says Poincare was and is as eager for war as the Kaiser.
I have bought a new tennis racquet and have
started playing again. I put some dope on my calous which is a compound of ether & alcohol. It is eating it away and I have not suffered from it since using this Nyal preparation.
How did you like the Grand Canyon and what did you do when there?
I have started out very well in physics, fairly well in Spanish and poorly in Sociology. However I hope to do as well or better than last quarter. Oral debate is very interesting. I am preparing a debate for the League of Nations now and

will have to speak fifteen minutes.
I have been working hard since school began but I will take a rest when this debate is off my hands.
I have a Spanish X tomorrow and had better look at the book a few minutes so goodbye.
With lots of love,

Dear Mother and 7 others,
I have spent most of the morning writing a five hundred word soccer story for the Dippy and have a handball article and sport schedule still to write.

The lake is full and boating and canoeing are quite popular. I went up there last Sunday but all the canoes were taken. I have just learned that there is a golf course here on the campus which can be used by anybody. I think I will bring some clubs up next quarter as it costs nothing to play.
I went to the picture show last night and saw
a poor representation of "Lorna Doone."
I have not received any letters for over a week, however I have not been to the Post Office for some time.
There has been quite a stir here over the personal efforts of Tom [Crwin??] to stop hazing and I think he has done a good deal to stop it. I am sending you his article in the Dippy.
Your loving son Burnham.

Dear Mother,
I received a letter from both you & father last Friday. They were both postmarked the 20th. I would suggest that you write at different times.
Your alibi about grand-father keeping you busy is getting threadbare as it is the first sentence in each of your recent letters. I am glad to see that other people
