THUR. APRIL 6 1916 Worked at home all day feeling very ex-hausted & depressed. Lovely fair weather
FRI. APRIL 7 1916 Same routine. In evening went to Miss Champion & had high tea in the drawing room & we indulged in poetry till 10.30 Fine day.

SAT. APRIL 8 1916 Lovely day. Shopped at World's end & worked in afternoon till D. Pethick came for tea.
SUN. APRIL 9 1916 Kath & I arose betimes & went to Harefield Park to see Claude. Had a picnic lunch en route. Found C. very weak. He took us to tea in the can-teen. Wheeled thither. Home about 7 - a perfect day.

MON. APRIL 10 1916 One or two slight showers Stayed in room all day & worked on article "How the Londoner takes his war". Mrs Ussher came home at 4.15 & I made tea. Nell came for evening. Kath in bed with cold.
TUES. APRIL 11 1916 Went to 144 High Holborn & had lunch with A. A. Smith. To Edith Grove to review paintings of Mrs de Morgan. In evening went to dinner at Lyceum Club met Miss Boyadjhan [Boyajian] Mrs Aldridge, Mrs Wood et al. Lovely fine day.

WED. APRIL 12 1916 Fine day - cloudy now & then. Stayed in room all day & worked on "Londoner takes his war" article. Sleep in afternoon Feeling less depressed.
THUR. APRIL 13 1916 Worked in room all day. Fine day. Kath came home early with cold. Went for an hour's walk by myself along the em-bankment in the moon-light [line around right hand side of entry for Thursday 13 April, with the words 'Friday trs' written alongside]

FRI. APRIL 14 1916 Fine day Worked in room till afternoon. Went with Mrs U. to Harrod's then to Mrs Aldridge but she was out. To N. Boyle but she had neuralgia so came home
SAT. APRIL 15 1916 Fine day. Claude came at 3, bringing with him Maguire & Williams & we gave them tea & they went to see sights. Claude & Maguire returning later & taking Kath, Mrs U & me to "Joyland" at the Hippodrome. Got home at 12.15.
