-592Chancery Court Little Suit decided) for the last few days took too much exersise feel sore from it I learned the Little Suit in the Chancery Court was decided today in my favour This Suit was against me, as Security for Hugh Bradshaw for $ Little I think has been paid for by H. Bradshaw

1871 July Wed 12) The morning is verry cloudy & calm - S. W. I stayed at home only rode out to the pawn morning & evening " Simon " Oats " See 11 Inst " 116 Simon mowed 9 Shocks of Oats he has 3 & me 6 I everaged my 6 to mak 96 bundles & he got 20 bundles more making 116 bundles Simon ows me for & pays me $.96 for them 116 in all 24 more

Th 13 . P 1) The morning is verry cloudy & calm Cool. N. W. I think there has been hail some where it has turned quite cool within some 10 hours Oats " 325 " 2 leads " Andy 1/2 Oats) I rode out to the pawn & went with Warren & wagon to the Oats field before dinner & halled a load of Oats & one load Monday making in both loads 325 bundles. We are staking the Oats in the North end of the old barn. 266 200) One load after dinner 266 Rained on us a little One load more after dinner 200 (no rain) Andy [illegible]) Got Andy to help Warren hall Oats after dinner half the day

-593Sat 15 . P 1) The morning is clear calm & warm S. W. 350 250 Jack & Tom Warren 200 & Andy Jack Wood $ This morning Warren & Andy 1 load 350 bundles Jack & Tom 1st load halled 250 " half the day each After dinner Warren & Andy halled 200 " Making in all 2553 bundles finished at dinner

Jack halled a load of wood to Town & sold it for $ today linnen $.50 bluing .20 Mary Scott Matta W. I got a yard of linned to make half handed gloves $.50 & some bluing $.20 Matta Roe Webster & Mary Scott Mayes got to Columbia on Thursday night's train the 13 Inst. Was 16 hours on the rode from Watter Valley, Miss. had no one with them for protection They say they got along verry well They are staying msotly at Thomas & Fanna's James Webster's daughter is with them J. S. Harris Oats Total 2553 Amt) & 3 or 4 of Jesse Harris children also there Jesse's widow is at the Springs

1871 July Sun 16) The morning is some cooler clear & calm N. W. My General health is about like it has been tho the change of Weather has given me a verry bad cold Commenced yesterday seems to settle verry much on my brest & lungs I have threw off verry considerably a verry tough & troublesome phlem in verry considerable quantity. I have been in the harvest field the most of 4 days this week all the times with boys, got verry warm & I suppose some times coold off to suddenly The cold is hurting me verry much I feel a little uneasy What will be the result I think I am some better this morning My nearves & much more steady at this time

-594Mon 17 P1 Hawkins The morning is mostly clear and verry warm. W. A man by the name of Hawkins said that was his name about 5 feet 10 hight Weight about 140 lbs A heavy countinence large & full face Gray eyes about 35 or 40 years old tolerable fair countinence carried a black carpet bag come after sun down Was traveling a foot had no horse Said he had no money was traveling South & wanted to stay al night I mad him wilcome & he stayed until after breakfast & went on his way rejoicing South to (he said) Alabama. There was something in his countinence that made me notice him verry particularly this evening I inveniently got in to a fuss with Jim Walker's wife about her children breaking into the Spring house & taking & distroying the milk I suppose she put out let her go. She abused me give me the lye upon several occasions I tryed to git at her but she got out of the way If I recover my helth a little she better look out

1871 July Tues 18 Henry Roasten Ears Corn The morning is verry cloudy Calm & warm. W. It cleared off between 9 & 10 in the morning The skie is verry hasy The sun shines a little smokey I sent & got of Henry Gallaway forty rostening ears of Corn to be accounted for in the divide of our Corn this fall--

Wed 19 .. P11 Rain last night The morning is verry cloudy & damp Cool. W. It rained a verry good rain last night Not a good season tho it will help crops & the Grass & crops verry much indeed it

Cloudy damp is dying all over the lotts less or more This rain will revive it up The are is verry damp & heavy is some times a light sprinkling of rain makes its appearance Wind is from The West & a little cool I hope there will be a little more befor it is done for we need it Our Crops are exceedingly find now & this rain will help verry much Storm last night rain Last night the 18th the rain & storm blew down & tangled the Corn all over this neighborhood done a great deal of injury to the Crops all around us Jack Wood $4.00 Jack took 2 load of wood to Town & sold it for $4.00

Th 20 The morning is mostly clear calm & cool. N. W. Warren & Felix halled the rales from Jim Walker's house & fixed the fence above the Spring it is hard to keep any rales on the fence there Jack took 2 loads of wood to Town Jack sold them for $4.00

Friday 21 The morning is quite cool. N. W. I was bad off all night pain in my brest so I could not git my breath I have been spitting blood several times today I am bad off (No ofther entries of importance) I am verry bad off Sent for Doct Pillow he pronounced my cas bad I was quite unwell all night rather cool N. Jack halled 2 loads of wood to Town $4.00 I sent for Doct Pillow yesterday he went to work Doctoring me for Newmona throwing off quantities of Blood every few minnits

-596Sat 22 Jack $ Wood Jack paid me $4.00 Jack $4.00 Henry Rosenears I was quite unwell bad off all night Cool. W. Jack halled wood to Town sold it & paid to me $2.00 My heath is so bad I can't do much of any thing Jack handed to me $4.00 he owes the ballence Warren got out of Henry Gallaways field Ten Rostenears to be accounted for

Sun 23 I have had a verry severe attack of numona Doct Pillow attended on me was with me 2 days I had powerful pains mostly in my brest I could eat nothing the first simtoms of my recovery was last night after night but I mended verry slowly & am quite bad off yet My son Thomas left his family came & stayed with me day & night until late at night two nights at which time I was better This morning I am better not able to be about except in my room This disease is a terable disease It had like to taken me off in 3 or 4 days with the greatest care I am in hopes I will recover tho I thought once it was verry uncertain

Mon 24 The morning is a little cool calm & clear W. My helth this morning it seems to be improving tho I am throwing off blood & there is some opprission about my lungs & brest Jack $2.00 Wood one load Arnell Jack is halling wood to Town one load today Sam'l Arnell was here today right on from Washington he think there is a fair prospect for me to git my claim vs the Gov't if it is pushed upon immediately I must do what is to be done right off One eyed Mare The one-eyed Mare was put to Riley today
