Bessies Family Suprise Party 92 deg

Evening cooler -- Wife & I & children sat on front porch before dark, & had banjo & songs -- Bessie got up little surprise party for us -- Had porch trimmed with a few locust limbs & sprinkled with water -- Then she & Goodie with little paper crowns on their heads, that Bessie had made, represented Maids of Honor to their Majesties the King and the Queen, myself and wife, & Sam & Alf were Pages -- Bessie treated us to a glass of lemonade all round, with a strawberry in each glass -- Very agreeable little family episode, and a genuine surprise to wife & I. About train time 8 PM I went down to the depot -- Met Nicholls and also C W Hinchcliffe there -- They are in as Representatives from Austin to the meetings of Grand chapter [RAN?], and

Clear & warm -- Left Reno on time at 7:10 AM & arr at Va on time at 10 AM -- Found letter from Dr F Hiller, my old friend and coadjutor years ago in this city --
