The Mikado
As soon as the case was dismissed -- about 10:30 AM, Sol Frankel was taken from
the County jail where he has been since Dec 2 and taken in a closed carriage out
over the Geiger Gradeby Chief of Police Henderson and officer Austin -- Another
carriage in waiting took him to Reno or elsewhere in that direction, and he probably
will be in San Francisco tomorow. Any how he is free and out of trouble so far as
his brokerage business here is cooncerned -- PM I attended the theater -- The play
was "The Mikado", and the best rendition of it I have yet seen -- by far-- The Car-
leton Opera Company left on the evening train, to play this evening in Reno -- [illegible]
Stenhouse notice Mackay
big crowd saw them off -- Evening I wrote a notice of Mrs Stenhouse's new book,
"An Englishwoman in Utah" for George Stenhouse to go in the Enterprise of tomorrow
morning -- Was with him down town awhile -- Bed at 2 -- John Mackay came up from San
F this morning --
Sunday April 17
Very light snowsqualls and occasional sunshine -- Was about town, watching points
as usual -- At 11 oclock Dan (Fahey), an old Gold Hiller met me in International
saloon -- He was exceedingly drunk -- I could not get rid of him and had to take
Dan (Fahey?) drunk John Yule
him up to his room on B street and see that he got to bed right -- He was the
drunkest friend I ever assisted home -- very rough and tough job -- I went to bed
at 1 --
