Denver, Colo. Aug. 25 / 15.

Hon. Wm. Spry, Governor of Utah.

We, the undersigned, employees of the Agnes Memorial Sanitorium hereby appeal to Your Excellency to use your influence in extending clemency and fair play to one Jos. Hillstrom sentenced to death in your state on what we believe to be the flimsiest kind of circumstantial evidence.

No motive has been shown why he should have comitted the murder of which he has been convicted.

We believe he is the victim of persecution by the great capitalists on account of his activity in the organization of workingmen to secure better conditions and being convinced of his innocence we ask you to do all in your power to set aside the sentence of death now in prospect for him.

Respectfully Yours,

Jacob Silverman John M. Boendier Frank Lagan Thos Madden Chas Hansen Edw. Madden Mrs. E. M. Beers Walter E. Nichols Orris E. Willey Wm. F. Andres Michael Kavanaugh Robert A. Golf George S. Cowden Alexander C. Fletcher Chas. Wagner

COLORADO Pueblo, Colorado, September 4th, 1915. Honorable William Spry, Governor of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah. Dear Sir:- We have read regarding the case of Joe Hillstrom as reported and are fully convinced that he would be a free man today, did have a fair trial: his conviction secured by circumstantial evidence, thru a jury who were prejudiced, was a grave wrong;. This being the case we feel that a crime would be committed should he be executed. We respectfully ask that you make his punishment life, instead of death by giving him a pardon, Yours respectfully,
