Thayer,Mo.,Sept.,25,1915. To the Governor of the State of Utah;— We, the undersigned write you in behalf of Jos.Hillstrom, under setence of death; for a crime we are fully satisfied he never commited; we are also satisfied the attorneys that were appointed by the court to try the case fell far short of their duty. "Joe Hill" did not know the man who was killed, and he had no motive for commiting such a crime. The whole proceeding was unfair and unjust as we see it. He was a stranger in a strange land, without friends and without money. In the name of God and humanity, must the working class be browbeaten, hung, sent to prison, and shot to death by the powers that be always? We hardly think so, therefore , Governor, we ask you to use your official power in his behalf. that you wish to see justice done, therefore, our final plea to youSave Joe Hillstrom .

To The Governor Of The State of Utah—

We, the under-signed citizens of the United States and residents of Billings Montana ,respectfully petition you to extend executive clem-ency to Joseph Hillstrom, now under sentence of death in the State of Utah. We feel that his defense has failed, not through the merits of the evidence for conviction;which evidence is wholely circumstantial;but through lack of finances for defense and through the animus of pred-atory capital which he has uncompromisingly fought as a labor agitator. We therefore petition you for the above reasons, to pardon him or commute his sentece. J.S. To His Excellency The Governor of Utah. We the undersigned Citizens of Missouri hereby protest against the execution of Joseph Hillstrom as we consider that it would be a judicial murder and that he was senten ced to death not for any crime, but for being a labor leader; and ask you to extend your executive clemency in his behalf and and save your State from The Odium of a great Crime. And this we ask your Excellency to do in the Cause of Humanity and justice. T.g. Walsh,M.JD. J.M. Walsh M.M. Parkhurst WM Parkhurst F.E. Parkhurst C. Parkes
