According to the testimony of the various witnesses
for the State, no direct evidence was
introduced to connect the defendent with the
crime as alleged, but he was convicted upon
the flimsiest circumstancial evidence.
The defendant Joe Hillstrom was not given a fair an
impartial trial, but convicted of murder on the first
degree in a community undul prejudiced, and hostile
against the defendant by reason of his connection
with an unpopular "Labor organisation."
The State did not establish a motive, for motive
their must be when one human use the extreme of
taking the life of a fellow human, unless there is
insanity or from heredity instinct for which the individual
cannot be held responsible.
Now what were the motive, robbery, jealousy, or
Revenge? The State remains silent.
The States eyes in essence; you Joseph Hillstrom
have taken the lives of two of her citizens: you
have not heeded the commandment;
"Thou shall not kill!' and because of
you have not heeded the commandment
