page_040252 March 10th 1765 Gent. As I intend to consign Messrs. Stewart & Cambell at least 30 hhds Tobo by the Justitia capt Somervile who expects to sail some time next month, I desire you'll insure for me £ 270 . . upon the sd ship for tho' there is no danger to be apprehended now except that of the Sea, as I new [illegible] is so very low I do not think it worth while to risque any thing---I am gentlemen To Messrs Stewart & Cambell _________________________________________________________----- Gent Please to insure for me £ 400-upon forty five heavy hhds Tobo in the Ship, John & Presly, Capt Thomson from Rappa River which Ship I expect will sail by the month of May at furtherest--I am gent yr hbble Servt To Messrs. Buchannan & Co London ___________________________________________________ Gent To Messrs Buchanan & Co Gent, Agreeable with my Letter for Insurance you will find by the Justitia's manifest that I have given Capt Somerville 30 hhds Tobo chiefly sweetscented & nearly one half stem'd such as I hope will merit yr approbation as I have [crossed out] endeavourd to have the greatest Pain taken in its management tho' as but a small part of it was made immediately under my won Eye is very possible the Overseers may have imposed on me therefore shall let it answer for itself and [rest ?] satisfied that you will do me the [strictest?] Justice in the disposal of it. Inclosed is an acct stated between Messrs Carey & Co & myself by which they bring me in debt £ 145.12.2. but the article of £ 24.6.11d. I do insist to have deducts because I can prove they have no right to it so that when that charge is taken out of the acct the Ballce will remain in their favour £ 121..6...3d, towards which Payment they now have in their hands unaccounted for, six hhds [toss?] stem'd sweetscented Tobo shipt from my own house July 1768 [illegible?] with a Bill of Loading already in [illegible?] by Joseph Simson in a small [Vapel?] of Ben Grymes's called the little anthony which Vepel was add recp'd to Messrs [late?] Buchanan & Co I must therefore desire Messrs. Stewart & Cambell will be so kind as to pay [crossed out\ pay the Ballce of thier acct and I have [sirttiol?] in [assr?] having credit for the nett Proceeds of the six hhds Tobo which I suppose they will give me very little for the 'tho' I really think they never receiv'd better Tobo--that House has used me extrememly ill [but?] [Compllcuiity?] will | page_040252 March 10th 1765 Gent.
