If the several ships, by which I have sent you Tob. arrive safe, Be pleas'd to send me Goods agreeable with the inclosed invoice, by one of your ships, early in the next year, & as they are intended ship by for our own waring apparel I shall be obliged to you, for being careful in the choice of them_ the consignment of the cash eight hhds, I must confess was principally intended to serve my neighbour [illegibe] whom I had formerly promised my assistance provided he could procure a ships, but at the same time, can truly say, I am glad to find he met with Encouragement from a house, I had before engaged with _ In Justice to him, fought to declare that he has been extremely deligent in volieting since his arrival here tho' I believe he has not met with the sweep he has a Right to expect, which he thinks was owing to his being detain'd so long in London contrary to the expectations of his Friends who concluded, he had made some them Provision for himself & therefore dispose of the Tobacco's they intended for him, otherwise with some, I know this to be case _ In all Probability there must be a shirt Crop this year both in Virginia & Maryland , which I hope will be a means of keeping a good Price at home, at least for a season_ I am Gent
