No 7 went on the [burn? bum?]. Very heavy frost. The water in the radiators was frozen. Some job to get the cars started. Was in charge of the convoy. Saw a wonderful sight at Bucy. Was looking at a sausage that was nearly above us. I was very surprised to see both observers jump out. As soon as their parashute [parachut] opened I looked above the baloon [balloon] and saw the Boche plane. The sausage first wilted a little then fire started at one end.
