Fri MARCH 1. Very nice day. We finished laying up the wall and Lew went to town in the afternoon and brought Meda home and that is all I have to write about just now.

MARCH 2. Sat Very nice again to day. Mr Dixon helped Lew saw wood all day got a lot of it sawed. I finished fixing up about the wall and put the time and sand that is left onto the flower patch. In the afternoon I worked in the shop.

I went to look at the Whittiker place. Sun MARCH 3. A cool breeze about all day. We sat about the store and kept Sunday very quietly and that is all I know about it.

MARCH 4. Mon A fine day clear and sunshiny and quite warm in the latter part of it owing to the new president. We J E Lew Mother and I went to see the Miss Whittiker place near Horsetooth. Liked it quite well it is numbered NE [28?] Section one T 7 N Range 68 W. When we came back to town Lew made a [filing?] on a piece [joining?] and most of it enclosed by the same fence.

Tues MARCH 5. A nice day again and quite warm. We hauled a load of stone and 5 loads of dirt in the forenoon and some more work besides and in the afternoon Lew got a load of gravel and I went to Mr Giddings's with Mother and got 800 lbs of early rose potatoes. It seemed as though we could do lots of work under the new administration of Gen Ben.

MARCH 6. Wed Clear still and warm. Lew went to the hills to take a good look at his claim. I chored around in the forenoon and in the afternoon I worked in the shop at the upright piece for the wagon rack. Lew got home and is tolerable well pleased with his claim.

Thurs MARCH 7. Clear and warm. Mr Dixon and Will helped Lew butcher the three pigs in the forenoon. They went away about 11 O clock. I worked in the shop and we cleaned up some seed wheat and done some other small jobs.

MARCH 8. Fri Nice but a little cooler towards night. Lew went to town in the morning got hom [home] a little after noon and went to [drilling?] in wheat on the windy hill place. Sewed [Sowed] alfalfa seed on the hill piece in the forenoon and in the afternoon had a very nice visit with Mr Hoags folks. Ett and the girls came with Lew and are making us a visit.
